Gaspé 6-Day Road Trip 2025: Where Mountains Meet the Sea

There’s no better way to feel the soul of Québec than driving along the winding Route 132 toward the farthest tip of the Gaspé Peninsula. From Montréal to Rimouski, Amqui, Gaspé, and Percé, our six-day journey revealed a land where mountains dive into the sea, and every curve of the road tells a story of wind, salt, and time.

Our local tour guide greeted us right at Montréal Gare Centrale, helping with luggage and smiles before we began our adventure together. Traveling in his own car, he made the long road feel easy — sharing stories, stopping for hidden views, and making sure everyone was comfortable.

By noon, we reached Rimouski — a charming maritime city where the scent of the ocean mixed with the aroma of warm bread and fresh crepes. After lunch by the port and a short walk along the quay, we continued to Amqui, where our chalet by Lac Matapédia became a peaceful retreat. Blue water, mountain reflections, and the laughter of friends around a twilight BBQ set the tone for the rest of the trip.

The road to Gaspé led us past the Pointe-à-la-Renommée Lighthouse, Cap de la Madeleine, and endless cliffs where seabirds danced above the waves. At Forillon National Park, we stood at what locals call the end of the world — where the Appalachian Mountains meet the Atlantic Ocean.

In Gaspé, we explored the Birthplace of Canada, enjoyed lobster rolls at Brise Bise, and soaked in the maritime air before reaching Percé, the postcard village of eastern Québec. The boat ride to Île Bonaventure and the majestic Rocher Percé was pure magic — thousands of seabirds above, turquoise water below, and sunlight glimmering through the famous stone arch.

When we returned to Montréal, our guide dropped us off safely at Gare Centrale, wrapping up not just a journey, but a friendship.

Il n’y a pas de meilleure façon de découvrir l’âme du Québec que de suivre la Route 132 jusqu’à l’extrémité de la péninsule gaspésienne. De Montréal à Rimouski, Amqui, Gaspé et Percé, ce voyage de six jours nous a révélé une région où les montagnes plongent dans la mer et où chaque virage raconte une histoire de vent, de sel et de lumière.

Notre guide local nous a accueillis directement à la Gare Centrale de Montréal. Avec sa propre voiture, il nous a conduits tout au long du périple, partageant anecdotes, arrêts panoramiques et petites attentions qui ont rendu la route aussi agréable que le paysage.

De Rimouski à Amqui, de Gaspé à Percé, chaque journée fut une découverte : phares historiques, lacs paisibles, chalets au bord de l’eau et fruits de mer frais dégustés au coucher du soleil.

De retour à Montréal, il nous a déposés à la gare avec le même sourire qu’au départ – comme si nous quittions un ami.
